Raiders cornerback Jack Jones starts feud with Travis Kelce over Santa joke
Las Vegas Raiders cornerback Jack Jones has officially started a feud with Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, who joked that they were Santa Claus and gifted their AFC opponent a victory on Christmas.
Kelce, 34, spoke about the Chiefs' loss to the Raiders during the latest episode of the "New Heights" podcast, which he hosts alongside his brother, Jason, center for the Philadelphia Eagles.
"We literally played Santa and gave them a present," Kelce said. "That was embarrassing. Everybody in the building knows how embarrassing that was. We got a short week so we're going to forget about this s--t real quick."
Jones, 26, picked off Patrick Mahomes and returned it for a touchdown in the 20-14 victory. The Raiders defense also had a fumble return to the house, meaning their offense only contributed to the win with two field goals.
"[Travis Kelce] said they gave us that game - tell him to go watch that game," Jones said. "We took that game. Yeah, we own that."
Jack Jones vs. Travis Kelce, who is right?
Two things can be true and that is the case for the Jones vs. Kelce beef. Chiefs did gift them the win, but Raiders also deserve credit.
There have been times when teams do everything in their power to lose and still get the victory because the opponent fails to capitalize on mistake.
That was the theme of the Chiefs' defeat. Raiders capitalized on a fumble and interception to secure the win.
Jones is only on the Raiders because of his longstanding relationship with interim head coach Antonio Pierce, who might not return next season.
