Nadal sets tennis return date for 2024: When and where will it be exactly?
Rafael Nadal is going to be ready to return to the big tennis tournaments in 2024 and will start by playing in the Australian Open,
This is expected to be the Spanish player's retirement season, which will begin with the first Grand Slam of the year.
It was Craig Tiley, director of the Australian Open, who was in charge of revealing the information on television in his country.
Rafa Nadal will be at the Australian Open
"We can reveal exclusively here that Rafa will be back," he said on Nine.
"He's been off for most of the year, and in talking to him over the last few days he confirmed he will be back, which we're really excited about. That's awesome."
The 22-time Grand Slam-winning tennis player had injury problems at the previous edition of Australia, which caused him to miss virtually all of 2023.
On June 2, the Mallorcan underwent hip surgery and a week ago began training on the courts of his academy in Manacor, and he did it on hard courts.
In May, Nadal said he would seek to arrive in the best possible shape in 2024, the year that likely marks his retirement at the professional level.
The Australian Open starts on January 14
It is unlikely that Nadal is going to have the level of fitness required to compete with the likes of Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic, but fans will be thrilled to see him there regardless.
The tournament begins on January 14, 2024, so the countdown to Nadal's return has already begun.
