Jets defeat Eagles for the first time ever as Jalen Hurts endures worst game of his career
The New York Jets (3.3) defeated the Philadelphia Eagles (5-1) for the first time in franchise history on Sunday at MetLife Stadium in Week 6 of the 2023 NFL season as quarterback Jalen Hurts had the worst performance of his young career.
Eagles entered the game with a historic 12-0 record over the Jets, but were also the last remaining undefeated team of the season, with the San Francisco 49ers losing for the first time this year earlier in the day.
Hurts, 25, signed a massive extension in the offseason and hasn't really lived up to the deal despite the team managing to clinch five wins.
He finished the loss against the Jets with three interceptions, tying his career-worst, and only threw one touchdown pass.
Hurts also rushed for 47 yards and a TD on eight carries, but only recorded 280 passing yards on 45 attempts, completing just 28 of those passes.
Jets defense pulls off miracle win over Eagles
Jets held the Eagles scoreless in the entire second half as the Zach Wilson-led offense only scored one touchdown all game long, a rush by running back Breece Hall.
Eagles RB D'Andre Swift caught the lone TD pass from Hurts. They'll look to get back in the win column next Sunday at home against the Miami Dolphins.
Jets head coach Robert Saleh will look to have his team go on a three-game win streak next Sunday against the New York Giants, who share their stadium.
The Jets defense deserves all the glory for helping the team get back up to .500 with Aaron Rodgers on the sideline looking healthy.
