Achilles rehab in pictures: Aaron Rodgers takes to Instagram to chronicle his Comeback attempt
New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers is leaving no stone unturned in his remarkable journey to recover from a torn left Achilles tendon.
On Saturday, he took to Instagram to provide fans with a snapshot of his rehabilitation process, showcasing impressive progress in defying the odds.
Rodgers shared seven black and white photos on his profile feed with the caption, "Three weeks into the rise to recovery. #healing."
The 39-year-old quarterback sustained the debilitating injury during the Jets' Week 1 victory against the Buffalo Bills on Monday Night Football. Despite the setback, he has been relentless in his pursuit of recovery, dedicating over five hours a day to physical therapy.
Rodgers already showing remarkable progress
In a recent interview with ESPN'sPat McAfee, the 10-time Pro Bowler has expressed his unconventional approach to rehabilitation, saying, "There are common practices about six weeks in a boot, and I was in a shoe in like 13 days. Again, this is just my mindset."
Rodgers'unique mindset has played a pivotal role in his rapid recovery, which has left many astonished.
The 19-season veteran, known for his mantra, "Just because something has never been done doesn't mean it's not possible," has set ambitious goals for his return and hasn't ruled out the possibility of coming back to play for the Jets in the current season's playoffs if the team qualifies.
Rodgers opted for the same surgical procedure that allowed Los Angeles Rams running back Cam Akers to return to the field just five and a half months after a similar injury in 2021.
This procedure involves placing an internal brace over the Achilles, potentially expediting the recovery process.
While the return timeline remains uncertain, Rodgers' recovery journey is undeniably impressive, especially considering his age.
Rodgers liked Zach Wilson's performance vs Chiefs
The veteran quarterback made a surprise appearance on the field in the Jet'sSunday Night Football showdown against the Chiefs in Week 4, and while he limited his involvement with the team, his attendance was seen as a sign of support for his struggling team as they navigate a challenging start to the season with a 1-3 record under quarterback Zach Wilson.
Rodgers had some encouraging words for Wilson after a gutsy performance against the Chiefs saying "I'm very proud of the leadership that he showed."
"I'm proud of the way he played, I didn't need to pull him aside or tell him anything special. There wasn't a pep talk I gave him that made him play better,"Rodgers commented
It is expected that Rodgers will take on a more hands-on approach with the team while he recovers. He previously stated that he would re-join the team after their Week 7 Bye.
For now, Aaron Rodgers will be supporting his teammates at a distance as they aim to break a three-game losing streak when they face Russell Wilson and the Denver Broncos at 4:25 p.m. ET.
