Kukoc: Is Nikola Jokic the best European ever? Petrovic, Divac or Sabonis have done more
Toni Kukoc, one of the most talented players in European history and three-time NBA champion with Michael Jordan's Chicago Bulls, has compared Nikola Jokic (NBA champion and two-time MVP) to legends such as Drazen Petrovic, Dino Radja, Vlade Divac or Arvydas Sabonis.
"Jokic is great, I talked about him five or six years ago. I like his style, with his basketball knowledge and understanding of the game he makes up for the athletic ability he lacks," Kukoc said about the Denver Nuggets star in statements reported by 'Hoopshype'.
According to Kukoc, who is promoting his new documentary 'The Magical Seven', "Jokic's career has not even reached 50 percent yet" and says he "probably" will become the best European player in history.
"Is Nikola Jokic the best European? I think Drazen Petrovic, Dino Radja, Vlade Divac or Arvydas Sabonis have done things that he hasn't touched yet, although I think he will," Kukoc said.
"But realistically, if Sabonis was in the NBA now at 24 years old, or Petrovic, or Radja, or me - my generation. If we watched the NBA on TV, we would certainly be much better than we were then," argued the former Jugoplastika, Benetton Treviso, Chicago Bulls, Philadelphia 76ers, Atlanta Hawks and Milwaukee Bucks player.
Toni Kukoc stressed that "in my opinion comparisons are unnecessary, especially between different generations".
"In conclusion, Jokic's quality and size are not at all questionable," he sentenced.
