Jake Paul defeats Nate Diaz in boxing, both fighters want rematch in MMA
Jake Paul defeated Nate Diaz via unanimous decision Saturday night at American Airlines Center in Dallas after 10, three-minute rounds and both fighters want the rematch in a mixed martial arts setting.
Paul, 26, was coming off a loss to Tommy Fury and now moves to a 7-1 record with a convincing victory over the pro boxing debutant. The YouTuber, who fought 10 rounds for the first time in his career, came out ultra aggressive in the opening round.
Diaz, 38, managed to become a bit more comfortable in the ring over the next few rounds, but his antics may have been part of the downfall.
The UFC legend was constantly working the crowd and faking MMA moves, while Paul was focused on improving his boxing legacy.
Diaz had his best round in the eighth and Paul then controlled the ninth round with some incredible footwork.
Jake Paul drops Nate Diaz
Up until round five, the fighters were winning one round each, but Paul dropped Diaz to the canvas and the momentum changed.
Still, Diaz displayed his unstoppable nature by kcontinuing to fight and moving forwad in search of a knockout blow.
During the postfight interview, both fighters agreed that they would love to run the fight back in MMA.
Diaz, who was more aggressive than Paul but less smart, faked a few UFC moves during the fight, so maybe the result will be different under MMA circumstances.
