Verstappen continues F1 domination with win at British GP
Red Bull's Max Verstappen continued his domination of the 2023 F1 season as he won the British Grand Prix, followed by British duo Lando Norris and Lewis Hamilton.
The race that saw Mexico's Sergio Perez climb nine places in the sister Red Bull, but miss out on the podium, finishing sixth behind McLaren's Oscar Piastri and George Russell in the second Mercedes.
Norris, who snatched first place from Verstappen off the line and Piastri came close to sending the Dutchman to third, but the Red Bull reacted well and eventually regained the lead which he never gave up for the rest of the race.
Verstappen, Norris and Piastri had things easy at the front until the engine of Kevin Magnussen's Haas blew up on Lap 33, prompting the safety car and a change of strategy.
Norris holds off Hamilton for second place
McLaren looked to have misjudged their tyre choice and put Norris on hard tyres, while Hamilton had soft tyres for the final 14 laps.
Norris withstood Hamilton's initial attacks and held on to second place, as the pace of his McLaren in the high speed corners was enough to keep the Mercedes at bay.
Perez, who had started in 15th place, made his way up to eighth after the safety car but struggled to overtake Carlos Sainz.
He eventually managed to do so and was quickly in position to overtake Alonso for sixth place with six laps to go, but there was no time to go after George Russell in fifth.
