Canelo downplays the quality of McGregor: I'll beat him with one hand
Saul Canelo Alvarez has spoken down about Conor McGregor after the Irish fighter decided to start talking about the Mexican boxer.
Canelo does not seem willing to shrink away from any potential challenge that the UFC fighter may bring, despite his stature in the fighting world.
Last week, the Irishman had no qualms about saying he would have no problem facing Canelo, as he believes he is on a downward slide.
"I'm a southpaw, John Ryder's a southpaw, Billy Joe Saunders is a southpaw - I've seen methods," McGregor said. "I've seen things I do, and I know he's waning. I'd fight Canelo no f***ing problem."
Now came the reply from the Mexican fighter, who just heard the challenge during the unveiling of his figure at the Wax Museum, and did not hesitate to say that he would beat him easily.
"The truth is I haven't seen what he said because I don't have my social networks on my phone right now, but I'll beat him with one hand on his back," he said with a laugh.
When and against whom will Canelo's next fight be?
Canelo did not rule out fighting in his native Mexico again and opened the doors to have a show in the Azteca Stadium.
"I would do it anywhere in Mexico, it would be an honour for me, so I don't rule out the possibility. It wouldn't be right now or in the short term, but I don't rule it out in the future," he said.
Finally, Canelo confirmed that it will be next week when he will define his next opponent for September, insisting that he will look for Bivol: "He is my first choice, but if it gets tough I will look for other options."
He is not thinking about opponents like Logan Paul, as "I have other opponents in my sights before him."
