Gervonta Davis vs. Ryan Garcia weigh-in: Boxing legend triggers Tank
The Gervonta Davis vs. Ryan Garcia weigh-in ended in a bit of a scuffle on Friday after boxing legend Bernard Hopkins triggered "Tank" into shoving his opponent.
Davis, 28, and Garcia, 24, faced off for the last time before Saturday's bout at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. They started trading their midlevel trash-talk before things took a turn for the worse.
Hopkins, 58, butted in and Davis turned his attention to the former champion, exchanging some words before turning around to push Garcia.
When asked what Hopkins said to trigger him, "Tank" called the boxing legend "old," and adviced him to let the young men shine.
"He was talking about he's about that life," Davis said. "Nobody is worried about his old a--. You need to sit back and let the youngins do it."
Gervonta Davis, Ryan Garcia knockout record
Prior to Hopkins seemingly touching Davis' back, Garcia told officials that there was no need to separate them, but they eventually needed to step between the fighters.
A knockout is expected in the biggest fight of the year due to both fighters being KO artists. "Tank" believes he'll break Garcia's jaw.
Davis has an undefeated 28-0-0 record and has knocked out all but two of his rivals. Garcia, meanwhile, is also unbeaten and has 19 knockouts in 23 fights.
Both Davis and Garcia weighed in at just over 135 pounds, but will step onto the ring at a heavier weight due to the 10-pound rehydration clause. The fight will be available on PPV.
