Manchester United come through bizarre night in Cyprus
Winning was all that was on the agenda for Manchester United in their Europa League trip to Cyprus. After Sunday's 6-3 hiding at the hands of Manchester City, Erik ten Hag's charges needed to respond positively.
Whilst it was a challenging night overall, United secured all three points with a 3-2 victory over Omonia Nicosia.
United started on the front foot with a fine piece of individual work from Antony almost opening the scoring. The Brazilian showed strength and quick feet to cut inside and send a curling shot towards the top corner, forcing a good save from the goalkeeper.
The visiting side attempted to keep the pressure on, but were struck by disaster before half-time when they gave away one of the more ridiculous goals you will see this week.
United had an attacking free kick and somehow ended up leaving just Tyrell Malacia back, he lost the ball and Omonia countered and scored through Karim Ansarifard.
After introducing Marcus Rashford and Luke Shaw at the break, United were must more potent going forward.
Rashford equalised shortly after the break with a curling shot from outside the box. Fellow substitute, Antony Martial, put the visitors ahead with a well-taken drive into the bottom corner, all before Rashford made the result safe with a tap-in just before full-time.
Sloppy defending allowed the Cypriot side to score a second goal through Nikolas Panagiotou, leaving United with not the most impressive scoreline from their night in Nicosia.
