Lewandowski and Barcelona heap further misery on Sevilla
New signings Raphinha and Robert Lewandowski helped Barcelona claim their third consecutive LaLiga Santander victory as they defeated Sevilla 3-0 on Saturday.
After starting their season with a disappointing draw with Rayo Vallecano, things look to be heading in the right direction for Xavi's side, as they easily swept past the struggling Rojiblancos.
It all started so strongly for Sevilla, as their pressing and intensity caused the Blaugrana fits, though several of their efforts were called back for offside.
This opened the door for Barcelona to settle and eventually take the lead after 21 minutes.
Against the run of play, Ousmane Dembele found Lewandowski. The Polish striker's chip was cleared off the line, only for Raphinha to head home the rebound.
The away side doubled their advantage 15 minutes later. Former Sevilla defender Jules Kounde picked out Lewandowski with a beautiful ball over the top, and the Polish striker fired a gorgeous volley that left Bono with no chance.
Barcelona wrapped up proceedings five minutes after the restart.
From a short corner, Dembele sent a cross into the box, with Kounde's header turning into an assist for Eric Garcia, who made no mistake from close distance.
From there the Blaugrana controlled proceedings and were untroubled by a Sevilla short on confidence following their disastrous start to the season.
The defeat is the third in fourth matches for Julen Lopetequi's men, who have just one point to their name.
As for Barcelona, they move to within two points of league leaders Real Madrid, who sit atop the standings with 12 points.
