Cristiano Ronaldo bids farewell to Queen Elizabeth II with touching message
The death of Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom is one of the top stories of the year, as the monarch passed away at the age of 96 after reigning for 70 years.
Countless celebrities have said their last goodbye to her, with Cristiano Ronaldo one of them.
The Portuguese star has spent much of his career in England, and chose to say goodbye to Her Majesty on social media.
"Seven years of my career were played in the Premier League, making this my 8th season living in England," he wrote on Instagram.
"Throughout these years, I've felt the everlasting love of the UK for it's Queen, and how important Her Majesty was and will forever be to the British people.
"I pay my respect to her memory and I mourn this irreplaceable loss with the country that I've learned to call home. My thoughts and prayers are with the Royal Family."
In response to Her Majesty's passing, the Premier League have postponed all matches scheduled for this weekend.

Queen Elizabeth II and Cristiano Ronaldo had a mutual admiration for one another.
When the Portuguese star rejoined Manchester United in 2021, the monarch even asked Cristiano for his signature.
In response, Ronaldo sent 80 signed shirts to Buckingham Palace for the Queen and her staff.
