Arsenal hold mid-game minute of silence for Queen Elizabeth II... which is booed by Zurich fans!
Arsenal and FC Zurich held a minute's silence for Queen Elizabeth II following her passing on Thursday, although some home supporters were heard interrupting at the end by booing and jeering.
The two teams had already kicked off their Europa League clash when the Royal Family confirmed The Queen had died peacefully at Balmoral.
"The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon," started the statement, published at the end of the first half of this Europa League game.
"The King and The Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow."
As a result, the two teams lined up at the centre circle and decided to hold a minute's silence before the start of the second half.
The referee blew the whistle to begin the moment of reflection, with a black and white picture of Her Majesty displayed on the big screen.
While the silence was largely well observed, boos could be heard around the stadium towards the end of the tribute.
The boos were quickly met by jeers as fans tried to silence the small percentage of the crowd before the players broke apart and took their positions.
Elsewhere, both West Ham United and Manchester United kicked off their fixtures as planned, as both clubs were advised to do so following talks with the FA and UEFA.
Both teams wore black armbands as well, while flags at Old Trafford were flown at half-mast as a sign of respect.
