Footage shows Aaron Donald hitting players with two helmets in Rams vs Bengals brawl
At first glance, the Wednesday video leaked on Thursday of a massive brawl that broke during a pre-season session between Los Angeles Rams and Cincinnati Bengals wasn't conclusive enough. In the footage that has now been deleted by official accounts, we can see a Rams player clearly hitting Bengals players with two of their own helmets.
As we zoomed into the footage, the player's number is clearly '99'. That is Aaron Donald, no doubt about it. This reaction has been punished by a suspension as it is considered violence against a fellow professional and there's evidence to prove it. It appears that the most recent Super Bowl defeat left the Cincinnati Bengals players pretty hurt and they were out to provoke Donald during this prep game.
Can Aaron Donald get suspended for this?
In order to understand the scope of what Aaron Donald just did, we need to go back to 2019 to what Myles Garrett did to Mason Rudolph during a Steelers vs Browns game. The difference is that Garrett only used one helmet to hurt Rudolph. Myles was obviously suspended for six games and he was also slapped with a well-deserved $1.2 million fine.
Given that Donald was caught on camera with two helmets instead of one, the NFL should act accordingly against him. Donald will most likely miss the start of the season with the Rams due to this moment of weakness. He should've thought twice before losing his mind like that but he surely will try to reason what he did. An absolutely inexcusable reaction, no matter the context.
When Garrett was suspended, he alleged Rudolph used a racial slur against him. This can be enough-reason for a player to get this heated during a game but still. What Aaron Donald and Myles Garrett did should never happen during a game. It sets a terrible example for younger generations who look up to NFL professionals. We'll update you on more details of the incident as soon as we have them.
