Canelo beats Golovkin in epic staredown that lasts forever!
Saul "Canelo" Alvarez and Gennady "GGG" Golovkin met face-to-face on Monday for the first time since 2018, the epic staredown seemingly lasting an eternity.
In their first media tour for the trilogy bout, Canelo and GGG made everyone at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas hold their collective breaths as the two fighters stared into each other's eyes.
The staredown lasted well over a minute despite each boxer's entourage telling them it was time to separate.
Even though they finally switched stances for pictures, Canelo and GGG remained locked into each other's eyes, both refusing to be the first to blink.
Canelo vs. GGG
With promoter Eddie Hearn standing over the two fighters, Canelo and GGG had a second staredown after exchanging words during the press conference.
The second staredown did not last as long as the first but the tension was still present as Canelo held up his four super-middleweight title belts.
Canelo was the first one to look away during the initial staredown but it's safe to say that the Mexican fighter still won due to him holding all his belts in the second face-to-face.
Golovkin will snatch all of Canelo's belts from him should he end up beating him. The fight is scheduled for September 17 and has yet to confirm a venue.
