UFC 271: Israel Adesanya and Robert Whittaker make weight ahead of bout
The first time Israel Adesanya fought Robert Whittaker in the Middleweight division, 'The Last Stylebender' knocked Whittaker out. However, he was arguably one of the fighters who gave 'Izzy' a run for his money during the fight that got Adesanya his Middleweight belt. After nearly three years, these two meet again with the utmost respect shown for one and other in Saturday's UFC 271. Since last Thursday's press conference during the face to face, you could sense the respect these two have for each other. Even Adesanya, who loves to taunt his opponents when he thinks he has a fair advantage. He knows Whittaker is no joke, the respect will always remain betwween the two warriors.
Inside the pound-for-pound rakings, Israel Adesanya is currently ranked at No. 2 and Whittaker is No.9. Inside the Middleweight division's rakings, 'Izzy' is No. 1 and Robert is right behind him. On Friday, both fighters made the weight without a problem in Houston, Texas. That's where the fight will take place on Saturday. Adesanya is trying to beat every single fighter from his division in order to assert his dominance as the best Middleweight. He confirmed earlier this week that 2021 wasn't exactly his year as he felt bored with some of the fights he got. However, he did lose the bout in which he decided to move up a weight class to Light Heavyweight.
Who's in the rest of the main card?
As for the rest of the main card. The co-main event has an impressive Heavyweight fight between Derrick Lewis and Tai Tuivasa. Staying on the Middleweight division, Jared Cannonier will fight Derek Brunson. And we have two Lightweight fights. One between Alexander Hernandez and Renato Moicano. The other one will be between Bobby Green and Nasrat Haqparast. Botht he main and co-main event will be incredible to watch. We are more than ready to enjoy another great night inside the octagon when the UFC 271 returns on Saturday night in Houston-Texas.
