Conte's cheeky reply to Guardiola: Counterattacks? Maybe not
Tottenham boss Antonio Conte and his tweet, along with Manchester City head coach Pep Guardiola.
Tottenham Hotspur boss Antonio Conte has hit back at Pep Guardiola's comments about Spurs' counterattacking tactics in their 4-2 victory over Manchester City last Saturday.
Conte's men were victors at the Etihad Stadium and Guardiola's post-match comments bemoaned the way the visitors defended, especially when in the lead. The Italian clearly didn't take kindly to this and took to Instagram to have a swipe back.
"Counterattacks? Maybe not," posted Conte, along with laughing emojis and a video of all three of Spurs' goals from the game.
The defeat means City's lead at the top of the Premier League has been cut to six points and Liverpool could halve that if they win their game in hand. It was also the Citizens' first league defeat since October.
"I think we played well. We created a lot of chances. I can't say anything wrong about the team because we were there all the time. But it was difficult," said Guardiola after the game.
"They played the way I expected them to play. They were good in the build-up and created a lot of space to run on the counterattack, but in general we coped well and played a good game.
"Everyone knows what [Harry] Kane gives. For the first goal we defended the pass inside badly, but after 10 to 15 minutes we created a lot of chances. [Hugo] Lloris was brilliant. We have to score more."
