Xavi: Real Madrid are the most in-form team in Spain
Barcelona coach Xavi Hernandez feels Real Madrid are the most in-form team in Spain ahead of their Supercopa de Espana semi-final meeting on Wednesday.
The Catalans' struggles have been well-documented this campaign, while Los Blancos are flying high atop LaLiga Santander, and the recently appointed head coach feels his side face a tough challenge in Riyadh.
"I see a Barcelona [side] under construction and a [Real] Madrid [side] in a very good shape, but that doesn't mean anything," he said at his press conference.
"We have faced them in all situations. It will not be easy to impose our game because they are the most in-form team in Spain."
While Barcelona are far from the finished article under their new boss, Xavi has seen an improvement since taking over.
"I see good things in the team. We have to be self-critical, yes, but I see good things," he noted.
"In other aspects, we are good. We have to continue building this project. Tomorrow is a good test to know where we are.
"Players like Pedri, Ferran [Torres] and [Ronald] Araujo are important to the team and I am happy to have them back."
Xavi feels that a win over their rivals could signify the turning of a corner for his side.
"It can be a turning point. Getting into a final and then winning a title would give tremendous credibility to our project," he said.
"It would be important [to win the semi-final]. It would not give us the title, because there would still be a final to play, but it would be very important for us."
"For us it is a challenge, an opportunity to win a title. We are very motivated and it could be a turning point.
"We will try to be protagonists and do many things well.
"Clasicos are unpredictable. Nobody knows what might happen, regardless of the point difference [between the two]."
