Packers fans to face frozen Tundra in Divisional round vs 49ers
The Green Bay Packers fans are packing their warmest coats for the team's playoff game against the San Francisco 49ers on Saturday.
According to National Weather Service Green Bay meteorologist Scott Berschback, temperatures are expected to reach the low 10s before kickoff of the NFC divisional game at 7:15 p.m. at Lambeau Field, with a wind chill near zero.
Daytime temperatures, with highs expected to be in the lower 20s, will be accompanied by westerly winds between 10 and 20 mph throughout the day. In the afternoon, temperatures will drop into the lower tens, with northwest winds of the same speed and occasional 20 mph gusts.
30% chance of snow Green Bay Packers vs. San Francisco 49ers
According to the National Weather Service, there is a 30% chance of snow, which may affect road conditions during the day and at night.
"When you're outside for a few hours in weather like this, people need to take precautions by wearing lots of layers, hats, gloves ... covering exposed skin when you can," Berschback said.
Although it's a far cry from the famous 1967 Ice Bowl, when the temperature dropped to 13 degrees below zero, with a wind chill as low as 48 degrees below zero, fans are hoping to fill the stands to see the Packers as they did that time, when they cruised to a 21-17 victory over the Dallas Cowboys.
According to the National Weather Service, the 30% chance of snow on Saturday may bring six hours of flurries.
