Liverpool close to signing Porto forward Luis Diaz
Both Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah have joined up with their national teams for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), but Liverpool are reportedly closing in on signing a player to cover for them in Luis Diaz.
The Porto winger has attracted interest from the Reds after having stood out with his performances over the last year and having scored 12 goals in 15 Primeira Liga games this season.
According to the Sun, Jurgen Klopp was impressed with the 24-year-old winger's displays in Liverpool's Champions League group stage games against Porto.
Diaz's buyout clause is set at 80 million euros, but British media are reporting that Liverpool could sign him in exchange for around 70m euros in January.
The Colombia international also impressed in last summer's Copa America, where he netted four times to finish joint-top scorer of the tournament along with Lionel Messi.
Meanwhile, Salah and Mane could miss up to seven Liverpool games if their respective national teams manage to reach the final of AFCON, which is set to take place on February 6.
