Icardi is the key to Barcelona signing Morata
Alvaro Morata has reportedly asked Juventus if he can leave in January following interest from Barcelona, and his potential move to the Blaugrana could depend on whether Paris Saint Germain striker Mauro Icardi heads to Turin.
PSG need to cash in on certain players in order to balance their books, with Icardi having been on Juventus' radar ever since his spell at Inter.
As MARCA has learned, the futures of Icardi and Morata may be connected. In the event Juventus manage to acquire the services of the Argentine, they could allow the Spain international depart the club.
Should Morata join Barcelona, he will become one of three players to have featured for Real Madrid, the Blaugrana and Atletico Madrid, along with Bernd Schuster and Miquel Soler.
As Tuttosport reported, Morata has informed Juventus of his intention to depart the Old Lady, who were initially not overly keen on granting his request.
PSG's intentions are key
Juventus need to convince PSG to enter into negotiations for Icardi, who has lost his standing at the French side, having scored just five goals this season and played a bit-part role.
Should Juventus manage to sign Icardi, the Bianconeri could terminate their loan deal with Atletico Madrid as the Serie A side are not willing to trigger the 35 million euro option to buy included in Morata's loan deal.
