LeBron and Westbrook break the Lakers' negative streak vs the Rockets
If LeBron James and Russell Westbrook were to end that negative five-game streak, it would probably have to be against the Houston Rockets. The team from Texas has a fairly negative record thus far and they are not considered one of the best rivals to beat in the NBA this season. James knows that his teammates aren't able to help him offensively against more powerful teams but today he had a field trip against the Rockets. After the game ended, Bron completed a triple-double with 32 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists that even got him to reach an impressive milestone. Westbrook also showed up tonight with 24 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists.
Houston Rockets also came to play, they maintained a close distance with the Lakers until the final quarter. That was the moment in which Lakers got the biggest advantage, they truly came out to get that win in the final minutes of the game. For Houston, Jalen Green Kevin Porter Jr. and Christian Wood scored 20+ points but still couldn't get the win. LeBron reached a massive milestone of 36,000 career points, a number that only other two players in NBA history had before him. Karl Malone is still anove LeBron with 36,928 points. And Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is way up top with 38,387 points.
What's next for Rockets and Lakers?
After tonight's defeat, Houston Rockets moved down to a 10-25 record. They will rest for two straight days before playing against the Miami Heat on Friday. Lakers moved up to a 17-18 record after tonight's win. They are set to travel to Memphis, where they are facing the Grizzlies on Wednesday. No rest days for the Lakers. Breaking that negative streak was all that mattered for LeBron and the Lakers. Getting that record and the triple-double was secondary to winning.
