Barcelona linked with Alexis Sanchez... but he isn't Xavi's primary target
Barcelona have been monitoring certain forwards in their bid to strengthen their attack, as a result of Sergio Aguero's retirement and Luuk de Jong's poor performances and potential departure.
With Ansu Fati and Martin Braithwaite facing injury issues and Ousmane Dembele struggling with his fitness, the Blaugrana are keen to beef up their squad in the winter transfer market.
Barcelona are reportedly interested in bringing back Alexis Sanchez, but the Inter backup forward is not Xavi Hernandez's primary target, as the former Al Sadd coach has set his sights on Manchester City's Ferran Torres. The Catalan club would struggle to cover Sanchez's salary, but De Jong going the other way could facilitate that move. That means it is an option, just not the main one.
Other forwards on Barcelona's radar
Barcelona have also placed Manchester United striker Edinson Cavani and Chelsea's Timo Werner on their radar, as none of the two players are considered undisputed starters at their teams.
Before signing any player, though, Barcelona will have to make space in their salary cap by offloading members of the current squad. The Catalan club can't sign any potential target if they don't part ways with one of their players first.
