Arsenal's Gabriel hit with a baseball bat but fights off attacker
Arsenal defender Gabriel was attacked at his home by two thugs in August as they attempted to steal his Mercedes.
But the Brazilian wasn't giving his car up without a fight and, despite them wielding a baseball bat, he impressively managed to fight them off.
Now, video footage of the incident has been brought to light.
Gabriel and a friend were returning from a night out on London when the attack took place, and the footballer took a hard blow from the bat after getting out of the car. But he was able to retaliate and defend himself, but the attacker managed to escape.
"There were no injuries but great commotion," explained a member of police. "They [the culprits] got themselves involved with two guys who were well able to take care of themselves."
As one of the culprits escaped, he lost his cap. This was key in helping police obtain DNA to identify him.
Arsenal teammate Sead Kolasinac also previously fought off two gunmen when they sought to rob him and Mesut Ozil in July 2019.
