The Man United coaching search triangle: Zidane to PSG to free up Pochettino?
Manchester United are left without a coach after parting ways with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer following yet another humiliating loss over the weekend, the latest a 4-1 defeat to Watford. As they go in search of a replacement, a number of coaches in jobs around Europe have been named as possible candidates.
Ajax's Erik ten Hag threw cold water on reports linking him with the vacancy at Old Trafford, and Zinedine Zidane is unlikely as his wife is reluctant to live in the north of England. Now, there have been suggestions that Solskjaer's sacking could set off a chain reaction around Europe, with Mauricio Pochettino joining United and Zidane taking his place at the Parc des Princes.
Iconic ex-boss Alex Ferguson is keen on the idea of Manchester United appointing Pochettino, while PSG have always had Zidane in mind as someone they would like to see take over in the French capital someday.
But the operation won't be easy, particularly not with the Champions League group stage still ongoing.
Zidane and the PSG dressing room
There is an idea in the Paris Saint-Germain dressing room, as MARCA have learned, that Zidane's arrival is imminent in Paris. His name has even been brought up during conversations among players. They know what's going on at the club and they are sensing that something could now happen.
Pochettino is a wanted man
The former Tottenham boss is one of the names who has been linked with arriving at Old Trafford, and a lot of clubs are interested in him after his work in London.
At the moment, the Argentine is trying to balance a lot things in Paris and to get the most out of a star-studded squad, while also having to manage speculation around Kylian Mbappe's future, Sergio Ramos' comeback and Lionel Messi's arrival.
Now, Manchester United again have a vacancy and Pochettino is of interest to them. It mightn't be ideal timing, but stranger things have happened in football.
