Russell Wilson wants to emulate Tom Brady: Play 20 years in the NFL
Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson has had a bad season filled with injuries that have his team with very limited chances of making the playoffs.
That's his situation in the short term, but as a good Super Bowl winner, the charismatic player for the Pacific Northwest team has much more on his mind than 2021 and part of that is emulating the durability of fellow Tampa Bay Buccaneers passer Tom Brady.
I definitely want to play for a long time
Winning mentality
"I definitely want to play for a long time, but I think once I'm done, I'd love to own an NFL football team and to be able to impact a city, a country and just bring people to the game of football," Wilson told The Associated Press.
Wilson's mentality isn't limited to the gridiron; he says he can bring a lot to the table off the field.
"I'm very big into the business side of things and just sports in general. I love winning. I love the process of winning. So hopefully I can bring that culture to a team and organization."
Currently, the Seahawks quarterback is just days away from turning 33 years old and already has 10 seasons in the NFL, all with Seattle, while Tom Brady is 44 years old and has played professionally for 22 seasons, to get close to those numbers, he needs a decade of activity.
Already an MLS owner
The idea of owning a franchise is not a dream for Wilson, who already owns a minority stake in the Seattle Sounders of the MLS.
It is rumored that 2021 would be Russell Wilson's last season with the team that selected him in the 2012 Draft, since last offseason he sought a change, that did not materialize.
