Pochettino to Manchester United: He could leave PSG, while Zidane isn't interested
Mauricio Pochettino could reportedly depart Paris Saint-Germain to join Manchester United, with the Argentine coach having emerged as one of the favourites to succeed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as the next permanent manager of the Red Devils.
The Norwegian coach was sacked by Manchester United on Sunday following a 4-1 defeat away at Watford in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
According to the Daily Mail, Pochettino is ready to quit PSG and join Manchester United either now or at the end of the 2021/22 season.
Pochettino is reportedly unhappy in Paris, where he is staying in a hotel while his family remain in London following his departure from Tottenham in 2019.
The Argentine tactician has reportedly grown frustrated with the fact that he is forced to manage big egos such as Neymar, Kylian Mbappe and Lionel Messi.
This has seen the Daily Mirror report that Pochettino has emerged as the favourite to take charge of Manchester United after Solskjaer's dismissal.
The other Manchester United coach options
Meanwhile, the BBC have reported that Zinedine Zidane is not interested in joining Manchester United, according sources close to the former Real Madrid coach.
Other alternative candidates include Brendan Rodgers, Laurent Blanc and Erik ten Hag.
Carrick as interim Manchester United coach
For the time being, the Red Devils have announced that Michael Carrick will act as Manchester United interim manager.
He'll first take charge of Tuesday's Champions League game away at Villarreal and is set to speak to the press this Monday.
According to the Daily Express, some Manchester United players already have concerns about Carrick's appointment, even if it is only on a temporary basis. He was already an assistant and it is claimed that some players believe his inexperience and lack of expertise is one of the reasons why the results didn't come under Solskjaer.
