Patriots extend win streak to six after beating Titans
The New England Patriots improved their record to 8-3 afer getting their sixth consecutive victory, this time over the Tennessee Titans. Patriots defense continues to impress as they held the opposing offense to zero points in the second half of play.
Mac Jones completed 23 of his 32 passes for 310 yards and two touchdowns. Both end zone completions were to Kendrick Bourne, who caught 5 of 6 targets for 61 yards.
The teams went into the locker room at halftime with a 13-16 score in favor of New England. With no Derrick Henry, A.J. Brown, or Julio Jones, Ryan Tannehill had to have a Herculean performance to affect Bill Bellichick's impenetrable defense.
Tannehill went 11 of 21 through the air for 91 yards of total offense, tallying a single touchdown and one interception. Running-back Dontrell Hilliard led Tennessee in offense as he ran for 131 yards, including a 68-yard touchdown before the half.
The third and fourth quarters were all New England, with running-back Damien Harris getting the last touchdown of the night. Harris would not be denied as he ran for multiple yards after contact to put the game away.
Kickers rarely get the credit they deserve, but it would be impossible to speak on this New England win without mentioning Nick Folk. He scored five field goals against Tennessee, and now has five 50-yard field goals this season.
Patriots' lock-up defense
Bellichick continues to prove that he is the best defensive coach in football. His defensive unit now has four straight games of holding opponents scoreless in the second half.
This game saw them force a fumble to stop a long run by D'Onta Foreman and pick off Tannehill in the end zone after leading his team to the Patriots 2-yard line. The pick was by none other than Mr. Interception, himself, J.C. Jackson.
Titans are still in good shape
Despite back-to-back losses, last week to the Houston Texans and this time to New England, Titans are still sitting on top of the AFC South with a 8-4 record. One spot below them are the Indianapolis Colts at 6-6, who lost their Week 12 matchup against Tom Brady's Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Titans will now get a bye in Week 13 before facing the Jacksonville Jaguars. Meanwhile, Patriots will play their first of two meetings against the Bufallo Bills on Monday Night Football before their bye in Week 14.
