New York Jets' Joe Flacco to start as QB against Miami Dolphins on Sunday
In a surprise move, the New York Jets will make another quarterback change and start Joe Flacco on Sunday when the Miami Dolphins visit New York.
The change brings an end to Mike White's three-game stint as starting quarterback, and who will serve as the Jets' backup.
It had been expected that rookie Zach Wilson would return from his injury suffered against the New England Patriots in time fo Sunday's clash, but he has yet to fully recover, and coach Robert Saleh has opted for the veteran Flacco.
"Miami's got a dynamic coverage system, with all the different coverages they run," Saleh told reporters.
The Jets traded a 2022 conditional sixth-round draft pick to the Philadelphia Eagles for Flacco last month.
Flacco, who made four starts for the Jets last season, relieved White at the end of a blowout loss to the Buffalo Bills last week, completing all three of his passes, one for a touchdown.
The Eagles signed Flacco to a one-year free-agent contract in March of this year.
