Mike Tyson: "I 'died' in my first toad venom trip", and other drug-related confessions

BeforeMike Tyson had a taste of the psychedelic toad venom, he was considered the most dagerous man on the planet due to his vicious boxing style. During his prime, many believe he was even better than Muhammad Ali at the top of his game. Tyson always revered the greatest boxers from different generations because he loved studying their history. But during that time, he truly was a scary man simply by looking at him straight in the eyes. All that changed when Mike Tyson got to know psychedelic drugs more closely. When he was still a fighter, his drug of choice was cocaine, a more mundane substance. But the more introspective stuff didn't cross his path until after he retired from boxing and life taught him many lessons.

Mike Tyson's journeys with psychedelic drugs are not just a temporary thing for him, it's clear he values the teachings he gets from them. In fact, he is one of the biggest advocates to normalize recreational psychedelic drug use in the United States and the rest of the world. Before trying these substances, Tyson had to deal with severe anger issues and completely changed his personality for the better after trying a wide variety of drugs. Known amongst the scientific community as the Bufo Alvarius, the magic toad is also known as the Sonoran desert toad. Famous people have traveled to the Mexican desert in order to try the animal's substance that comes out of its back when it feels threatened. The effects it has on people's minds are similar to those of known psychedelic substances such as mushrooms or LSD.

Why does Tyson like the toad so much?

In various podcasts and interviews, Mike Tyson often speaks about this as one of the greatest psychedelic experiences of his life. He often mentions it during his 'Hot-Boxin' podcast with UFC legend, Henry Cejudo. In a recent interview for Wonderland, Tyson spoke about the toad once again: "I 'died' during my first trip. In my trips I've seen that death is beautiful. Life and death both have to be beautiful, but death has a bad rep. The toad has taught me that I'm not going to be here forever. There's an expiration date."

Mike also revealed how he stumbled upon the magic toad for the firsst time: "I did it as a dare. I was doing heavy drugs like cocaine, so why not? It's another dimension. Before I did the toad, I was a wreck. The toughest opponent I ever faced was myself. I had low self-esteem. People with big egos often have low self-esteem. We use our ego to subsidize that. The toad strips the ego. It has made me more creative and helps me focus," he said. "I'm more present as a businessman and entrepreneur. People see the difference [in me]. It speaks for itself. If you knew me in 1989 you knew a different person. My mind isn't sophisticated enough to fathom what happened, but life has improved. The toad's whole purpose is to reach your highest potential. I look at the world differently. We're all the same. Everything is love."

"I'm fighting for psychedelics to become medicine you can buy over the counter. I'm not finished. I want to do more. I want to be the best I can be in this field.
