Hornets keep winning streak alive with emphatic win over Timberwolves

Actualizado

The Charlotte Hornets continue to impress this season, especially after dismantling Anthony Edwards and the Minnesota Timberwolves. Led by LaMelo Ball, Hornets are now 13-8 this year and are on a small, three-game winning streak.

Even though Ball only scored 10 points with a 40% field goal percentage, he orchestrated the offense and tallied 13 assists with only 4 turnovers. He failed to score a three-pointer, which is rare for the league's reigning Rookie of the Year, but made up for it with his usual defensive effort.

Meanwhile, Anthony Edwards only scored 11 points in 28 minutes with 5 rebounds, 2 assists, and 1 steal. Karl-Anthony Towns led his team in scoring with 25 points and D'Angelo Russell was two points short of 20.

For the Hornets, their leading scorer was Kelly Oubre Jr coming off the bench. The former Warrior had 27 points in 27 minutes with 7 made triples, which led Charlotte to tie their franchise record for most made threes in one game (23).

Monkey Off The Rookie's Back

Both teams cleared their benches as the fourth quarter came to a close and the game was clearly going to go to the Hornets. This allowed James Bouknight to play four minutes and score his first points in the NBA.

The first-round draft pick for the Hornets had failed to score in two months as a professional. He went to the charity line, sank both shots, and shook the monkey off his back. Kai Jones also got his first bucket as an NBA player.

Meanwhile, P.J. Washington played his second game since returning to action after being inactive with an elbow injury. He managed to record 17 points in 24 minutes with Mason Plumlee out due to a calf strain.

McDaniels Family Reunion

The game within the game occurred between brothers Jalen and Jaden McDaniels. Jalen won the matchup with 14 points and 8 boards in 23 minutes. Jaden will surely be dissapointed with his lone 4 points and 6 rebounds.

Hornets will now travel to Houston to face the Rockets before the Ball brothers go head-to-head on Monday in Chicago. Timberwolves will go to Philadelphia as the underdogs against the 76ers.
