Ferran Torres will have to wait to join Barcelona
Barcelona are chasing Ferran Torres and the Spanish international wants to leave Manchester City, but the deal is a complicated one which won't be resolved in January.
Mateu Alemany and Ferran Reverter were sent to Manchester to negotiate a deal in the hope of bringing him to Camp Nou on loan in January, but were unsuccessful.
Manchester City don't want to loan him out, and a loan with obligatory purchase option would not be possible given LaLiga rules.
The Citizens have not entirely ruled out a deal, but it would be a direct sale and would have to wait until the summer.
It also remains to be seen whether Barcelona will be able to afford a deal, as Pep Guardiola's side are demanding at least 70 million euros for Ferran.
Guardiola has opened the door to his exit if he wishes to move to Barcelona, given that there is already an agreement between him and the Spanish team.
Manchester City will not allow him to leave on the cheap, in any case, and negotiations lie ahead.
With Sergio Aguero almost certainly having to retire due to heart problems, and Luuk de Jong expected to leave in January, Barcelona desperately need depth in attack.
