Durant's Nets take Ricky Rubio's Cavaliers out for a spin
After the Nets' most recent loss against the Golden State Warriors, Kevin Durant was in dire need to make a statement against the Cleveland Cavaliers. He got completely outclassed by Steph Curry on his home game against his former team. Tonight, Ricky Rubio is the one who stood in his way and Durant was ready to make a proper impact. During the first two quarters, Durant seemed on a mission to forget the bad experience he had at Barclay's Arena last night. There was even a moment when the Nets fans were chanting "MVP" and they weren't referring to him. That's gotta hurt coming from your own fans but New Yorkers tend to be like that.
Tonight, Durant led the Nets with a 62-41 advantage at the break with a clear dominance over the visiting team. But Ricky Rubio decided to respond during the third quarter by leading the Cavs to a 32-19 score. Problem was that by the end of the third quarter, the Nets took that initial advantage to finish with a 91-73 momentary win. Rubio ended up scoring 25 points and Darius Garland 24. Durant cooled down during the second half of the game but there was another NBA All-Star who came to play. The 'Beard' was outstanding during the final quarter and he ended the game with a spectacular 3-pointer that gave the Nets a final score of 109-99 over the Cleveland Cavaliers.
What's next for the Nets and the Cavs?
With an 11-5 record, the Nets take a rest day and return on Friday to get a visit from the Orlando Magic. As far as the Cavaliers is concerned, they have one of the toughest games tomorrow when they host the Golden State Warriors. Steph Curry will be ready to give us another historic evening in one of his favorite places to play: Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse in Cleveland. Keep in mind that the Cavs currently have a 9-7 record after tonight's defeat against the Nets. We are not even half through the NBA season but we can already tell which teams are going to dominate through the entire league.
