Could Cristiano Ronaldo persuade Zidane to join him at Manchester United?
With Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's job currently being in danger, Manchester United have placed Zinedine Zidane on their radar as the Norwegian manager's potential replacement and they are hoping that Cristiano Ronaldo could convince his former coach to join him at Old Trafford.
Zidane and Ronaldo coincided at Real Madrid, where the Frenchman first became a special adviser before being employed as sporting director, Carlo Ancelotti's assistant, Real Madrid Castilla head coach and then boss of the first team.
Under the French tactician, Ronaldo won three consecutive Champions League trophies and, according to Mirror, Manchester United want to see the two men rejoin forces at the Red Devils.
Ronaldo's return
The Portuguese star returned to Old Trafford last summer as he looked to inspire United to domestic glory, as they haven't won a single Premier League title since 2012/13.
Having also acquired the services of Jadon Sancho, Manchester United strengthened their defence by bringing in Raphael Varane from Real Madrid.
Injuries to the France international, however, have not let him find consistency in the side so far this season, while Manchester United have had a slow start in the first stretch of the 2021/22 campaign.
The presence of both Ronaldo and Varane in the dressing room may tempt Zidane to try his luck in the Premier League, but the former Real Madrid coach is reportedly not willing to undertake a project halfway through the season.
Zidane would prefer to work with his new team during summer pre-season, with the France national team job always being at the back of his mind.
Other options
Manchester United have also been linked with Paris Saint-Germain coach Mauricio Pochettino, who had success in England with Southampton and Tottenham Hotspur, and Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers, who is reportedly already looking for houses in the Cheshire area.
