Clippers maintain their impressive run against the Timberwolves
With Kawhi Leonard still working to return to this winning team, the LA Clippers received the Minnesota Timberwolves at Staples Center. A dar after the Lakers got spaned by the same team, Paul George and company proved they are the hottest NBA ticket in Los Angeles right now.
Before the game started, the Clippers shared an emotional video about Patrick Beverly's greatest moments with the team. After four seasons playing with the Southern California team, Beverly played through a second youth after his initial stint with the Houston Rockets. Clippers fans always keep Beverly close to their hearts for his dedication to the institution throughout those years. The love was palpable as everybody gave Pat his warm welcome. But after this memorable moment, it was time for business.
Led by Paul George with 23 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists, this Clippers team dominated the Timberwolves without a problem throughout the entire game. Reggie Jackson contributed to this victory as well with 21 points this evening. He also asked the fans to keep giving Beverly the love he deserves and proved the veteran still keeps a close bond to many of the Clippers players.
Keep in mind this was the first time Beverly faced his former team since being traded to Minnesota. It was certainly an emotional night for the fans and Pat as well. He didn't get much help frmo his teammates tonight as D'Angelo Russell failed to deliver a performance similar to the one he offered last night against the Lakers. He had Ivica Zubac to stop him dead on his tracks with the 12 rebounds he conquered tonight against Minnesota.
What's next for the Clippers and the Timberwolves?
After a dominant display tonight, the Clippers sure need the motivation for Sunday's evening game against the surprising Chicago Bulls. Losing against the Golden State Warriors will have Zach LaVine and company craving to get back to victory as they visit the Staples Center during their trip through California.
Minnesota Timberwolves return home for a difficult game against Devin Booker's Phoenix Suns on Monday evening. After tonight's game, Clippers have an 8-4 record and the Timberwolves are 4-8. There's no question that the Pat Beverly welcome is what will remain on everybody's memory after tonight.
