76ers get Joel Embiid back after a COVID-related absence
When Joel Embiidtested positive for COVID-19 back in November 8, Philadelphia 76ers only had three losses so far in the season. The star had been the most important player for his side but then COVID-19 struck him. As instructed by the authorities, any person who tests positive for the virus needs to isolate for at least two weeks and then get a negative test in order to return to activities. During that time Embiid was out, the Sixers played 8 games from which they only won two of them. They defeated Sacramento Kings 102-94 and Denver Nuggets with a 103-89 result.
Other than that, they lost six games against Golden State Warriors, Portland Trail Blazers, Milwaukee Bucks, Indiana Pacers, Toronto Raptors and Utah Jazz. That left Philadelphia with this poor 10-9 record that is a clear result of Joel Embiid's absence. Now that he finally returns to full activity, the team welcomed him with open arms and a warm ovation from the crowd. Everybody is happy to have their top player back in full health. The first half of the game against the Minnesota Timberwolves was weak from the Sixers but Embiid still managed to get back into his rhythm.
Will Ben Simmons return this season to play with Embiid?
According to previous reports, Ben Simmons is allegedly having a hard time not returning to play for the 76ers. He initially wanted to declare himself in content but he might be going through financial issues. It seems like a matter of time before Ben Simmons finally makes the decision to return to the court due to necessity. Watching him and Joel Embiid playing together again should be interesting before Simmons inevitably decides to leave the team. For now, the Sixers will have to make due with what Embiid can offer them upon return.
