Lucas Vazquez contained Ansu Fati and ate up Garcia
Real Madrid grabbed a 2-1 victory over Barcelona at the Camp Nou in a Clasico where Lucas Vazquez stood out for the way in which he kept Ansu Fati quiet and grabbed a late goal to put the game to bed for Los Blancos.
The hosts' only clear-cut chance came early in the game when Sergino Dest sent the ball wide, as the Blaugrana failed to break down Real Madrid's solid defence.
Courtois
Very attentive to Barcelona's crosses and very quick when releasing the ball to begin Real Madrid's counter-attacks. Made some saves, but wasn't threatened much by Barcelona's attack.
Lucas Vazquez
A 10/10 game for Lucas, who contained Ansu Fati and scored Real Madrid's second following a counter-attack that started from Real Madrid's box.
Militao
Barcelona pressed high up the pitch and made building from the back a tough task for Real Madrid players, but Militao was solid in defence whenever he was needed.
Alaba
Stole the ball and had the confidence to run towards Barcelona's box, where he received it again to break the deadlock for Real Madrid. Spectacular game for Alaba.
Mendy
Solid display in defence for the Frenchman, who also contributed in attack. Barcelona hardly attacked from his side in the second half and he was shown a silly yellow card for wasting time during a throw-in.
Casemiro
Made some errors when building from the back and demonstrated again that he is not in form. His positioning in dead balls helped Real Madrid clear balls throughout the game.
Kroos
Was pressed by Gavi for the large part of the game, but effectively participated in the circulation of the ball to help the team build attacks.
Modric
Also suffered by Barcelona's pressure high up the pitch and didn't participate much in the game. Created a chance for Benzema, who failed to net.
Rodrygo
Helped Lucas by tracking back when needed, but he got hardly involved in Real Madrid's attacks, although it was him who passed the ball to Alaba for Real Madrid's opener.
Vinicius
Was one of Real Madrid's top performers. Participated in almost all Real Madrid's attacking plays by running into space to receive long balls and create danger in front of Barcelona's goal.
Benzema
Dropped back to get more involved in the game and produced a moment of brilliance with a chest pass after the break, but failed to beat Marc-Andre ter Stegen in a clear chance in the second half.
Valverde
Came off the bench for Rodrygo, but had to be replaced later on after a collision with Gerard Pique.
Asensio
Came on with three minutes to go to replace Vinicius and participated in Real Madrid's second goal.
Carvajal
Replaced Valverde late into stoppage time and played just a few minutes.
Ancelotti
Real Madrid struggled with Barcelona's high pressure in the first stretch of the Clasico, but Los Blancos had a plan B as they managed to threaten with Vinicius' and Rodrygo's runs into space and create danger on the counter.
