Rapid goalie gets knocked out during Salzburg defeat
Defending champion Red Bull Salzburg won Friday's inaugural game of Rapid's new Bundesliga season 2-0 (1-0). Takumi Minamino (35) and his Japanese compatriot Masaya Okugawa (82nd) scored in front of 24,200 spectators the goals for the double winner and top favorite, which starts this year on the already seventh championship title en suite. "I think you have clearly seen that Salzburg has lost players, but has also gotten players who have clearly quality," said Rapid coach Didi Kühbauer. "They were almost harder to play because they have more pace."
Rapid goalie Richard Strebinger survived the clash with Takumi Minamino relatively lightly. The 26-year-old suffered a concussion in the Bundesliga home game against Red Bull Salzburg (0: 2) after a collision with the Japanese, but no cracks in the head.
