MOTO GP: Anniversary win for Dovizioso in the home race in Misano
Andrea Dovizioso celebrated a dominant victory in Misano in his 288th Motorcycle Grand Prix. The 32-year-old Italian won a world championship race on Sunday for the 20th time, for the eleventh time in the premier class MotoGP. World champion Marc Marquez had to settle for second place, but the Spanish Honda star is now comfortably 67 points ahead of Dovizioso in the World Championship.
Third was Honda rider Cal Crutchlow. Yamaha superstar Valentino Rossi ended his home race, however, only on the disappointing seventh place and thus fell back three points behind Dovizioso. His Ducati team-mate Jorge Lorenzo crashed in the penultimate lap lying second and finished as 17th without a point.
Moto 2 Scandal
The Italian Romano Fenati caused a scandal: During the relentless fight against his compatriot Stefano Manzi out of the points, the 22-year-old grabbed his opponent at a speed of about 200 km / h in the handlebars and pulled the front brake. Manzi responded quickly and thus just avoided a fall. Fenati was immediately taken out of the race for "irresponsible driving" with the black flag. The Moto3 vice-world champion was penalised after the race with a relatively mild penalty of two races ban.
