Conseslus Kipruto wins Diamond League with one shoe

The 3000 m steeplechase race offered an incredible spectacle. The winner ran a big part with pain and only one shoe.

The audience could no longer stay on their seats. The Kenyan Conseslus Kipruto started the final spurt against the leading Moroccan Soufiane El Bakkali. That alone is nothing out of the ordinary, however, the Kenyan had only one shoe, with the other he ran barefoot. After less than half of the race, he had lost his "running tool", but was not deterred by it.

Olympic champion Kipruto, in his homeland police officer, overtook his adversary on the finish line. At 8: 10.15 he crossed the white line, four hundredths before El Bakkali. Then he wrote a few more autographs and then settled exhausted on the tartan track.
